How does Opill® work?
Opill is a daily birth control pill that she can start taking on any day that works for her—there’s no need to wait for a specific time in her cycle. It begins to protect against pregnancy after 48 hours, so it’s important she uses a backup method, like condoms, during those first two days.

For Opill to be effective, she needs to take one pill every single day at the same time within a 3-hour window of the time she took it the day before. Once she finishes a pack (28 pills), she should start the next pack the very next day, even if she’s on her period, spotting, or not currently sexually active.
Can my daughter buy Opill® without an ID?
Yes! There’s no ID required to purchase Opill. It’s approved by the FDA for anyone of reproductive age who has started their period, regardless of how old they are. That means it’s safe and accessible for teens and young adults alike.
Can Opill® be used to treat acne?
No. Opill is only indicated for pregnancy prevention.
Is it normal to have spotting between periods or miss/stop having periods while on Opill®?
Yes, it is completely normal for her to experience changes in her menstrual bleeding pattern while taking Opill®. This may include spotting between periods as well as the potential for missed or stopped periods.
Can Opill® be used as an emergency contraceptive, like the morning-after pill?
Opill® is not an emergency contraceptive (morning-after pill) and won’t prevent pregnancy when used after unprotected sex. Opill® and emergency contraceptive pills serve different purposes. Opill® is a birth control pill that you take every day to prevent pregnancy. Emergency contraceptive pills are used after having unprotected sex to reduce the risk of pregnancy.
